"Leskovačka ljutenica" - autochthonous product with geographical origin

In addition to Leskovačka domestic ajvar, Leskovačka sprža, Leskovačka grilled meat, the geographical area of Leskovac is also associated with a fourth product protected by geographical origin, namely Leskovačka ljutenica. It is a name of origin that was registered before the Institute at the end of October this year.

"Leskovačka ljutenica" is an autochthonous food product obtained from fried and pasteurized vegetables, from fresh tomatoes (Novosadski jabučar, i.e. Volovsko srce varieties) and fresh hot peppers (Dzinka, i.e. Plamena varieties) and is produced exclusively in the traditional way.

"Leskovačka ljutenica" is a product of thick, spreadable, homogeneous texture with visible pieces of vegetables (pepper), and without separating liquid, dark red color, pleasant spiciness, moderately salty with a balanced ratio of acids and sugar.

"Leskovačka ljutenica" contains significant amounts of capsaicin, dihydrocapsaicin, total carotenoids with the highest proportion of lycopene, total phenols and flavonoids that exhibit a synergistic effect and significant antioxidant activity in the fight against free radicals. In this way, this autochthonous product has a beneficial effect on health.
