The Ambassador of Sweden, Mrs. Anika Ben David, opened the conference and pointed out the connection between Serbia and Sweden in various "green projects".
In addition to the introductory speeches, the conference was also addressed by experts from various fields, such as Ida Reuthesverd, the first secretary of the Swedish Embassy in Serbia, Thomas Njulund, an expert in waste management from the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR), Dragan Rajković from the Tetra Pak company , director of sustainability for Northern and Eastern Europe, as well as Staše Stojkov, director of sustainability at IKEA Serbia.
The topic of the first panel discussion is related to the waste management policy in the EU and Sweden and how it is applied in Serbia, including the necessary investments in the management of different waste streams at the national and local level. While the topic of the second panel discussion is focused on how the private sector contributes to the systematic reform of waste management in order to reduce, reuse and recycle waste through Serbian and Nordic experiences, and the topics are focused on the next steps in order to solve different waste streams through joint action and cooperation.
