Public call for the Special Research Program COVID-19 is open

The Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia has opened a public call for proposals for scientific research projects within the Special Research Program COVID-19. The program aims to fund projects that will contribute to an effective scientific response to the COVID-19 pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus and enable better preparedness and response of society to this pandemic.
The program was initiated and prepared under the circumstances of the state of emergency declared in the Republic of Serbia on the occasion of the COVID - 19 pandemic. Having in mind the importance of involving the scientific community, this Program has a special strategic significance for the Republic of Serbia and its citizens.

The program is intended for researchers employed in accredited NIOs. The program supports applied scientific research, the creation of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams, and consortium project submission. Projects under this Program are submitted on predefined topics within three groups of scientific fields:
  • (bio) medical sciences;
  • (bio) medical engineering and information technology;
  • economic, sociological, psychological research and management of complex systems.

According to the duration of the project, the Program envisages three categories of projects:
  • short-term projects with a recommended duration of up to 12 months;
  • medium-term projects with a recommended duration of 12 to 18 months;
  • exceptionally, long-term projects with a maximum duration of up to three years (36 months).

The total budget of the Program is 2,000,000 euros. The program is financed from a World Bank loan through the Innovation Acceleration and Entrepreneurship Growth Project in the Republic of Serbia (SAIGE).

The largest budget for an individual project is 200,000 euros.

Project applications for this public call are submitted exclusively in electronic form, no later than June 10, 2020. year until 15 hours Central European Time, by filling out the project application through the portal for eGovernment of the Republic of Serbia: https://www.euprava.gov.rs.
