Ready projects for the expansion of the State Data Center in Kragujevac

The Minister of Information and Telecommunications in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Mihailo Jovanović, announced today the construction of block two of the State Data Center in Kragujevac, with a capacity of 16 MW, as well as the procurement of a new supercomputer for the development of artificial intelligence, which will be the largest in Southeast Europe.

At the opening of the "Journey to a Smarter Future: Building Smarter and More Sustainable Communities in Serbia" conference, which is being held in Kragujevac, Jovanović pointed out that the center is a symbol of Serbian digitization and eGovernment and a solid foundation for reaching ambitious goals in the "Leap" plan into the future - Serbia 2027". He pointed out the importance of the implementation of this plan for the citizens - from further raising the standard of living, intensive modernization, industrialization, infrastructure development to the integral development of the entire country. There is no part of Serbia that is not included in this plan, said Jovanović, and at the same time he presented that, thanks to the state's investments in digitalization and industrialization, Kragujevac has transformed into Serbia's silicon valley, and that projects for further investments in its modernization are largely ready. The minister pointed out that in Kragujevac, two buildings of the State Data Center were built and started operating in record time, while projects for the expansion of additional modules of this center are ready. Namely, as he announced, we are also planning the construction of block two with a capacity of even 16 MW, as well as the acquisition of a new supercomputer for the development of artificial intelligence, which will be the largest in Southeast Europe. According to him, in February, work began on the construction of the innovation district, where members of the IT community will be able to work, and a special place will be the national information security center and the future fifth science and technology park in Serbia. There will also be a center for the promotion of digitization, a section for bioinformatics and bioengineering, a space for training students, the minister specified, adding that a "Smart city center" for the development of smart energy systems and the networking of smart infrastructure will also be established within the innovation district. Kragujevac, recognizing digitization as the most important catalyst of innovation, has done almost the most of all cities and municipalities in the field of open data, the minister pointed out and stated that this city is currently in second place in terms of the number of open data, with 215 resources on the national Open Data Portal .
