The competition for StarTech grants is open until May 31

The Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Jelena Begović, presented today the new StarTech program, within which innovators in Serbia have the opportunity to apply and receive up to $50,000 in grants.

In addition, a competition for the Accelerated Development Program was introduced this year, which includes training and mentoring, as well as support in the creation and marketing of materials that should present our innovators in the best light to potential investors, and their products to foreign markets.
This includes the opportunity to participate in events to connect startups and investors and at international fairs and exhibitions.
The competition is part of a wider project of the Philip Morris company, worth a total of eight million euros, which is implemented by NALED, with the support of the Government, with the aim of accelerating economic growth and transforming our economy into a digital, export-oriented one based on knowledge and innovation.
Begović stated at the press conference that it is very important that StarTech's focus is on connecting faculties, scientific research organizations and the economy with the aim of facilitating the development of innovative products and services.
NALED program director Jelena Bojović announced that grants in the amount of one million dollars have been allocated for the next two competitions.
After the first three years of the program, during which support was mostly focused on innovations in the early stages of development, we continue our activities with a focus on projects with a higher level of readiness to enter the domestic and foreign markets for investments, products and services, she explained.
Bojović said that this is why in this cycle at least ten larger grants will be awarded and support will be provided through the Accelerated Development Program, and she added that free professional support for the preparation of applications for the competition is available to all those interested until May 10.
So far, StarTech has supported 82 innovations through grants of around three million euros. Among the awardees are devices for rehabilitation in neurological diseases, baby temperature measurement, dog monitoring, mobile head scanner, automatic sign language translation software, agricultural production monitoring applications, probiotic for diabetes, anti-helicobacter supplement, forest fire prevention system... .
The deadline for applications is May 31, and detailed information about the program, all conditions and necessary documentation for participation can be found on the website www.startech.org.rs.
