The Archaeological Institute acquired the status of an institute of national importance

At today's meeting, the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted a decision by which the Archaeological Institute in Belgrade acquires the status of an institute of national importance, considering that the top scientific research institution is of special national importance for one or more related scientific disciplines.

The Archaeological Institute was granted this status because the state needs to strengthen the work of science and the institute itself in order to encourage the development of archeology as an extremely important branch and thus of archaeological heritage, which represents a significant potential of the country and contributes to Serbia's international reputation and visibility on the world map of archaeological site research. .

At the same time, granting a special national status should strengthen the development of institutes and scientific personnel in archeology as an extremely important branch of science that contributes knowledge to the reputation of the country and overall social and economic development.

The institute of national importance carries out research aimed at the development and improvement of the general fund of knowledge, especially in the field of science, i.e. the scientific disciplines for which it was founded, raising the technical-technological level, valorizing research results and spreading scientific knowledge, educating and training staff for scientific research work.
