The second phase of work on the Science and Technology Park in Niš has begun

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, announced today that the state will invest 25 million euros in the construction of the second phase of the Science and Technology Park in Niš, stressing that the task is to complete it by October 2025.

The Prime Minister stated that more than 100,000 people are employed in the ICT sector, pointing out that in 2023, total exports in this sector amounted to 3.44 billion euros, which is almost ten times more than in 2012, when 375 million euros.

Out of the total figure of exports in that sector, the surplus is approximately 2.6 billion euros. This shows how much more we can change Serbia and strengthen it if we continue to invest in people and educational and scientific institutions, Brnabić pointed out.

Also, she expressed her belief that Serbia can become the development technology and innovation center of Europe, adding that this is why additional investments and everything planned by the "Leap into the Future" plan are important.

Our goal is for exports in the ICT sector to reach 10 billion euros by the end of 2027, and for this sector to employ 140,000 people. I am convinced that we can do it, said the Prime Minister.

The regional director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Matteo Colandjeli, emphasized that Serbia is achieving great success in terms of building science and technology parks and that the bank is financing science and technology parks in Serbia with 80 million euros.

Colandjeli assessed that the ICT sector can be an engine for the development of the domestic economy and announced that this bank will also finance individual startups in Serbia, inviting small and medium-sized enterprises to apply for EU grants.

Director of STP Niš Milan Ranđelović indicated that 50 companies with more than 500 employees operate in STP Niš.

These companies tripled revenues, doubled the number of employees and developed over 200 new products. I believe that STP contributed to their success, said Ranđelović.

He said that STP Niš develops and implements programs through which hundreds of young and educated people have passed, and recalled the current development project of nine regional startup centers, as well as two innovation incubators at the faculties of the University of Niš.

The new facility in Niš, which will be built in the northwestern part of the STP Niš complex, between the multi-purpose lamella of the Faculty of Electronics and the Student Center restaurant, will include close to 9,500 square meters for office space and between 900 and 1,000 square meters for laboratory space.
