Italy and Serbia towards stronger cooperation in the field of innovation

More than a hundred bilateral meetings were held between Serbian and Italian companies from the innovation sector during the second day of the Serbia-Italy Innovation Forum "Dealing for the sake of innovation", which was held at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS), and where innovative solutions from domestic startups were presented. they are used in the sectors of agriculture, pharmacy, energy and communal activities.

Director of the Sector for Strategic Analysis, Services and Internationalization at CCIS, Mihailo Vesović, said at the end of the Innovation Forum of the two countries that the forum was an opportunity to present the experiences of Italy, how their innovative community functions and what kind of support they have through hubs, infrastructure and financial funds. . As he said, the experience of the Lombardy region is of particular importance in terms of applying innovations in the economy and creating startups based on new technologies.

"Today we had a business day aimed at startups and young companies that want to find new investors. Artificial intelligence permeates through all these companies, which is a generally present topic," Vesović said.

The Ambassador of Italy in Serbia, Luka Gori, pointed out that it is necessary for the two countries, in addition to cooperation in traditional sectors, to start cooperating in innovative areas as well. "The forum in Belgrade brought significant experiences from the innovation sector that we presented. A special review was given to the experiences of the Lombardy region. The event was a process that was started as a continuation of the already existing cooperation between Serbia and Italy," Gori said. He pointed out that the Serbian Chamber of Commerce has great importance in the cooperation between the two countries.

The two-day innovation forum, which brought together over 450 representatives of Italian and Serbian institutions, universities, science and technology parks, innovation funds, startups, incubators and accelerators, was organized by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Serbia, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), Lombardy Region, the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications and the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, with the support of the organizations "We Make Future" and "Impact Hub Serbia".

The focus of the discussion was on the transfer of knowledge and experience of companies from the Lombardy region, and the topics were agrotechnology, application of artificial intelligence in industrial processes, green transition, smart cities and sustainable mobility.
