Conference "Business meets Academia: Innovative research in food and environment" was held

Conference "Business meets Academia: Innovative research in food and environment" organized by the Innovation Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade, was held online on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, starting at 9 am, within the Horizon2020 Foodentwin project: Twinning of research activities in border 'omix' research in the field of food, nutrition and environment, funded by the European Union.

During the event "Business meets Academia: Innovative research in food and environment", the focus was on presenting innovative research in various aspects of the impact of environmental pollution on food quality and safety, as well as creating stronger links between academia and business. In addition to researchers from the country, experts from the European Union, Sweden, Italy and Bulgaria also participated.

The confernce was opened by representatives of the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade: Sanja Grgurić Šipka (WPL FoodEnTwin), Maja Gruden (Director of the Innovation Center) and Goran Roglić (Dean).

On behalf of the Innovation Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, Nadežda Tonić addressed the audience, expressing satisfaction with the participation in the organization and the opportunity to promote and popularize relevant topics and innovative solutions. Emphasizing the importance of cooperation between science and economy by applying knowledge and experience from such events, through scientific expertise and implementation in the business sphere, she emphasized that the Innovation Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia will continue to support quality projects like this and monitor the development of innovative ideas.

By initiating important topics in the field of food, nutrition and environment, as well as by supporting an approach that encourages the synergy of science and economy - a starting point was created for further research and transfer of knowledge and technology at the local level and beyond.
