The contribution of the laboratory for advanced research of the Innovation Center of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade

Serbia is improving research and the use of new technologies, thanks to laboratories for advanced research at the Innovation Center of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade.

Three new laboratories were opened this summer at the Innovation Center of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade, where young and talented researchers from Serbia can conduct various researches.
The new laboratories are the latest chapter in the development of the Innovation Center, which was established in 2006 as a company operating under the auspices of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade. The goal was to connect science and economy in order to achieve the most advanced innovations in the fields of electrical engineering and information technologies.

The new laboratories are "equipped with the most advanced sensor systems and computer equipment, which enables new scientific research and projects based on the most advanced technological concepts," said Ilija Radovanovic, deputy director of the Innovation Center.

This valuable equipment, which will be used for the study of virtual reality, eHealth and biomedical engineering, as well as for industrial automation and management, was financed by the European Investment Bank, the European Union, the Council of Europe Development Bank and the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

"Over 200 million euros have been invested in research and development in Serbia, and we are proud of the excellent results of our joint efforts to launch innovations in Serbia, economic competitiveness and advanced technology," said Dubravka Negre, Head of the European Investment Bank Regional Office for the Western Balkans. . "We saw the importance of encouraging talented young people at the beginning of their careers to direct ideas through a system of professional support that allows them to develop a career in their own country."

Since its establishment, the Innovation Center has been involved in over 150 projects in which it cooperates with national and international scientific and research institutions, as well as industry representatives.

"The Innovation Center will continue the mission of connecting talents, knowledge and skills, experiences, ideas and creativity," said Radovanovic, "building an environment conducive to the development of new innovative projects, research and solutions, as well as the professional competencies of our engineers and researchers."

Such investments and projects have put Serbia on the global innovation map. Today, many international companies and universities hire experts from this Innovation Center to conduct research for their products that are potential market innovations. The young scientists of the Innovation Center of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering therefore face the same professional challenges, but they also have the same opportunities as in other European countries.

The application of the new findings and conclusions of these laboratories is multiple - from software, through the health system and medicine, to games and the sports industry, marketing and education. The Innovation Center is currently developing technological innovations based on Industry 4.0, which focuses on the digitization of industrial processes, and Society 5.0, a concept that aims to strike a balance between economic progress and social development.

"We are open to new scientific and commercial collaborations, expanding our network of partners, and sharing knowledge and experience in all areas of innovation, such as artificial intelligence, information technology, Internet of Things (IoT), biomedical engineering, virtual reality and so on." says Radovanovic. "In addition, our laboratories are available to engineers, researchers, students, institutions, firms and start-ups who want to launch new scientific research and develop innovative ideas."
