The Serbian delegation at this assembly, in addition to the advisor to Minister Zoran Tomić, consists of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the OSCE in Vienna, headed by Ambassador Prof. Dr. Žarko Obradović.
The topics discussed at the assembly were systemic solutions for waste management, space traffic management and space resources. In addition to the above topics, the agenda also includes reports of the legal and technical subcommittee, space and sustainable development, benefits from the development of space technologies, space and climate change, the future and importance of the work of the Committee, as well as the admission of new countries that have applied for membership in this committee. Since the emphasis is on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda within the framework of space programs, each participating state presented its programs, results and plans to date.
On behalf of the Republic of Serbia, Zoran Tomić, Advisor to the Minister for Interdepartmental Cooperation, Academician Bela Balint, addressed the Committee session. Tomić emphasized the perseverance of the Republic of Serbia in the development of modern technologies and their use for peacetime purposes. “Serbia is making efforts to actively participate in the implementation of international space exploration projects, including the latest in a series of LSSTs that have begun operations,” said Tomić, adding that Serbia will take the necessary steps in the coming period to become a member of this committee.
