Joint work between Serbia and Italy on scientific and technological progress

The Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Jelena Begović, and the Minister of Universities and Research of Italy, Anna Maria Bernini, opened the second Italy-Serbia Science Forum at the AREA Science Park in Trieste.

At a bilateral meeting held within the Forum, attended by representatives of ministries and scientific communities from Serbia and Italy, Begović and Bernini signed a Declaration of Intent on Cooperation in Research and Innovation.

Begović recalled that by organizing the first scientific forum of this type in Belgrade in 2023, the foundation was laid for the gathering of scientists from Italy and Serbia for the purpose of joint work and progress.

This gathering under the slogan "Uniting minds, bridging borders" represents an exceptional opportunity to deepen cooperation in the areas of science, innovation and technological progress, which are essential for the future of our countries, the Minister emphasized.

She pointed out that Italy is a strategic partner of our country, not only in political and economic terms, but also in scientific terms and in terms of innovation development, announcing that the first results of the joint scientific and strategic programs of the two countries are expected in January.

Begović invited Minister Bernini to visit Serbia during the organization of the specialized exhibition EXPO 2027 "Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All" in Belgrade.

Bernini assessed that Serbia's progress in the industry related to artificial intelligence is obvious, and that through cooperation with Italy, this progress can be even faster.

We confirmed our decision to strengthen friendly ties with Serbia and to work together on scientific and technological progress, the minister emphasized.

The Director of the Office of Public and Cultural Diplomacy of Serbia, Arnaud Guillon, said after the bilateral meeting that it is of utmost importance to point out the enormous contribution that Serbian scientists make to world science.
