Begović visited the Italian state data center Technopolo in Bologna

The Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Jelena Begović, visited, together with her associates, the Italian state data center Technopolo in Bologna.

Begović toured the data storage infrastructure that Italy has at its disposal in one of the 11 centers that make up the large Technopolo network, noting that it was an honor to see Leonardo, one of the largest supercomputers in the world.

She indicated that the next step in the development of these centers is the introduction of two quantum computer systems, which will raise the center to an even higher level.

According to her, developing and maintaining such a system was necessary both for the sake of data storage, and for the purpose of research and development of their science and startup ecosystem.

Within this center, Begović also visited one of the data centers of the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, which provides services to the entire world in creating global climate models, which are later used by individual countries to create their weather forecasts.

The Minister also visited the University of Bologna, where she emphasized that it is the oldest university in the world, which is struggling to be competitive in modern times.

She pointed out that more than 50 percent of the programs of this university are in English, and that a lot of energy is invested in attracting students from all over the world.

Begović said that the University is extremely successful in this, citing the fact that between 10 and 15 percent of students come from abroad.
