European Innovation Scoreboard 2022

The European Commission published today the European Innovation Scoreboard for 2022.

 

According to the conducted analysis, the innovation performance of the EU increased by about 10% since 2015. Compared to the previous year, the performance improved for 19 member states and decreased for eight. Compared to the EU average, global competitors such as Australia, Canada, Korea and the US still have an advantage over the EU. However, the EU narrowed the gap with these countries and overtook Japan. The report covers EU member states and several other partners including Serbia. Compared to previous years, this year's edition included Albania, Chile and Mexico. According to the scoreboard,in the area of ​​innovation, Serbia is at 61.8% of the EU average, which is significantly higher than other countries from the Western Balkans region. Serbia's performance growth (15.6%) in the period 2015-2022 is higher than the average growth in the EU (9.9%), so the gap is decreasing.
