The status of women in science in Serbia - a good example for other countries

A panel on creating opportunities for women in research held at the Third Forum for Women in Research "Empowering Women for Global Impact" was held in Dubai. Assistant Minister for Science PhD Marina Soković spoke on the panel, pointing out that Serbia can be a good example for other countries regarding the status of women in science.

Women have support when it comes to choosing scientific positions or doctoral studies, because their status is suspended during maternity leave.

Assistant Minister Soković added that in Serbia for eleven years, in partnership with the Commission of the Republic of Serbia for Cooperation with UNESCO, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and the company L'Oréal Balkan, the best young scientists have been awarded and that every year three young scientists receive this scholarship.

"The goal of the international program 'For women in science' is to support women researchers around the world, but also in our country, who contribute to the progress of science and society with their dedication, achievements and vision. The national scholarships 'For women in science' are a form of support for their further professional development and an incentive to continue doing science in Serbia," emphasized PhD Marina Soković.

The third Forum for Women in Research "Empowering Women for Global Impact" was organized by the University of Sharjah, under the patronage and presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi.
