Regional seminar "Public health and intellectual property - current problems, needs and solutions" - applications by April 22

The regional seminar "Public Health and Intellectual Property - Current Problems, Needs and Solutions" will be held online on the World Intellectual Property Day - April 26, 2022.

The aim of the seminar is to look at the main current issues and challenges in the field of intellectual property in the health sector, with special emphasis on understanding the current needs and problems of the sector and intellectual property as a tool that can help solve them.

During the seminar, participants will have the opportunity to hear lectures and discussions by prominent representatives of various industrial sectors who will talk about the following topics:

• Intellectual property and public health: problems and challenges;

• Current issues related to European patent applications in the health sector;

• Novelties in the field of supplementary protection certificates;

• Counterfeit pharmaceutical products - risks, consequences and challenges.

The regional seminar is organized by the Patent Office of the Republic of Latvia in close cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and with the support of the European Patent Office (EPO) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The seminar will be held in Latvian and English, and simultaneous translation will be provided.
