Innovative modular hospital developed

Belgrade-based Composite Technology Team (CTT) has developed mobile units used in times of crisis as an outpatient clinic or surgery room, as well as a complete system of pre-fabricated hospitals that can be built in just a few days.

Such a mobile unit can be used in times of crisis as an outpatient clinic, diagnostic center or surgery room, in peacetime but also in emergency situations. The unit is fully dedicated to field work, equipped with an independent energy source and air conditioning system. When a connection is available, the Lastavica mobile ambulance can be connected to the electricity and water supply network.
From access to the workplace, the ambulance is put into service within ten to twenty minutes, which is of great importance in crisis situations for the rescue of the vulnerable. The ambulance can also be used in times of war when this high mobility brings great strategic advantages due to its low vulnerability and the ability to care for patients in the field.

The specificity of this mobile platform is that it is vehicle independent. The Swallow team, founded by CTT, points out that in this way they have achieved an innovative solution that has many advantages in exploitation over everything existing on the world market. First of all, the unit is self-contained and does not hold the transport vehicle, and in case of failure of the transport vehicle, the ambulance is not blocked while waiting for the vehicle to be repaired but simply switched to another vehicle.

In use, it does not create problems of registration of such a special vehicle or depreciation of the vehicle, which makes great savings. When not in use these modules can be stacked one at a time and reduce storage costs.

Unlike standard shipping containers used mainly for this purpose, the Lastavica team has developed a module based on lightweight steel profiles produced on CNC machines. The advantage of this system is that the basic supporting structure is not made of wood, larger than the galvanized sheet of guaranteed property. This gives a firmer and lighter construction that is not prone to decay and has excellent fire and seismic resistance. Due to the computer-controlled violas-producing machines, the manufactured construction is of millimeter precision. One machine can produce a structure for a minimum of ten modules per day

There are innumerable schemes for assembling modules depending on the requirements placed on the object. The advantage of such facilities, says Petar Matunovic, owner of CTT, is that during peacetime they can be disassembled and independently reassembled in other configurations to serve as public interest facilities, kindergartens, schools, accommodation centers and the like.

CTT expects that the new opportunities will indicate to the state that it needs to pay attention to and support innovative solutions coming from domestic entrepreneurs.
