As it was pointed out on that occasion, telecoms around the world have a lot of untapped potential in the form of outdated telephone booths that occupy central city locations and represent an infrastructure that creates losses every year. In order to prevent these losses, and to use the potential of the locations occupied by the payphones, modern cities are replacing the outdated infrastructure with advanced digital totems that have multiple functions. Thanks to the joint engagement of Telekom Srbija and Strawberry Energy, with the support of the Cabinet of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Belgrade will in the coming months, after London and New York, get a network of smart payphones that will provide Belgraders and all visitors with many free services.
The project includes the replacement of 100 payphones in the central city municipalities in Belgrade, and the first phase of the replacement of 50 payphones has been announced for the fall. The value of the first phase of the project is 2.5 million euros. The project is completely free for the citizens of Serbia and Telekom Srbija. Strawberry Energy provided complete project financing assisted by banks and financial institutions.
The smart phone booth is a multifunctional device and in addition to phone calls, it offers free internet, SOS call, charging of mobile devices and relevant local content. The smart speakers will also provide information on city services, the city map and public transport lines, and the city's tourist and cultural offer on an interactive touch screen. The offer of services and services will be constantly enriched. Built-in high-resolution screens, on which, in addition to city services, advertising content will be broadcast, will turn outdated telephone booths into a new source of income.
During its eight years of existence, Strawberry Energy has developed an entire portfolio of smart solutions and become a leader in the smart city area with devices installed in more than 30 cities and 17 countries around the world.
