An agreement on scientific and business-technical cooperation was signed between six leading institutes in Serbia

Six institutes of national importance for the Republic of Serbia have joined forces and jointly signed the Agreement on Scientific and Business-Technical Cooperation. The association of six leading scientific research institutions in the country, unprecedented in the history of domestic science, could, in the opinion of the signatories of the Agreement, permanently reshape the relief of the scientific scene in Serbia and strengthen the social relevance of natural sciences.
The association began with meetings that preceded the Covid-19 epidemic, and was completed at the end of May 2020 with the signing of a joint agreement. The document was signed by the directors of all six accredited institutes of national importance for the Republic of Serbia: the Institute of Physics in Belgrade, the Sinisa Stankovic Institute for Biological Research, the Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy, the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, the Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences and the Vinca Institute. medical research, according to the website of the Institute of Physics.

As stated in the Agreement on Scientific and Business-Technical Cooperation of the Institute of National Importance for the Republic of Serbia, it formalizes the existing cooperation and creates a basis for its expansion and improvement. The agreement defines joint work on the planning and implementation of scientific programs through the participation of researchers from these institutions, as well as the joint use of equipment for these purposes. The agreement was concluded for five years, during which mutual interests will be taken into account in future joint engagements.

- Institutes of national importance want to strengthen mutual cooperation, and especially their roles as important catalysts for the process of strengthening and connecting individuals and institutions that improve our society - says Dr. Aleksandar Bogojevic, director of the Institute of Physics in Belgrade, an institution that, in accordance with the law, In 2018, it was the first to acquire the status of an institute of national importance. In the next two years, five more leading research organizations in Serbia joined the Institute.

According to the Law on Science and Research, the institute of national importance is a top scientific research institution that conducts research with the aim of developing the general knowledge fund, raising the technical and technological level, valorizing research results and disseminating knowledge, education and training for scientific research.

Within the extensive reforms of the scientific sector, which preceded the epidemic, the competent Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development has repeatedly emphasized that the leading scientific institutions in the country through this status should become a basic national repository of human resources, expertise and expertise.
